@historywemissed: Replying to @user381006562 This comment is the ultimate masterclass in defending a system that is actively bleeding the working class dry. Let’s go point by point through the "self-made" myths, income tax history, and the reality of asset building to show exactly how the game is rigged. They want you playing checkers so you don’t notice they’re playing chess. #historywemissed #civicliteracy #economics #wealthgap #DaydreamingHistorian

FACTS! Income from labor is taxed at a higher rate than capital gains. Lower and middle class people have to fight so much harder to stay afloat while the wealthy game the system. We need to overhaul the whole taxation system in the US.

Grew up poor, parent in and out of jail, I barely graduated high school, started working minimum wage and learned every thing I could while putting in more effort and cared more about my work than those around me and currently living very comfortably and building a portfolio. So yeah it’s completely possible but it takes more than most are willing to give !

Thank you for a clear and concise explanation. You now have a new follower! Since president Regan, the tax laws have been structured to favor the wealthy and big businesses. Back in the 80’s Republicans wanted a flat tax… ask them why they don’t request it anymore… it’s because tax laws have been structured advantageously for the rich since then and they most likely would be paying more today with a flat tax.

If Musk paid the same tax % as I do, his tax bill would be as much as 50 billion per year. He doesn't, because his "income" is not salary.

When I discovered that my husband has bought into the fantasy MAGA sells that he should care about stopping taxes on Capital Gains because someday HE might be a billionaire and be impacted by them 🙄, I worked up a quick scenario of what he’d need to change in his life to achieve that goal including putting off retirement by at least a decade and being willing to commit a hefty chunk of his hard earned savings to some very risky investments in hopes they’d pay off. He changed his tune (for now),

The Billionaires and their Corporations write all the laws that politicians pass! So laws benefit them over all others!

Yes, I will take the 2% raise I get this year to buy stocks instead of feeding my kids. I’ll figure out the other 2% inflation later.

I paid 32% of my income to Federal taxes last year. We the people that fall into this tax bracket are paying most of the taxes in this country. It’s simply not fair. We need a flat tax and everyone needs to pay a fair share.

if you have a job, you should keep 100% of your money. I'm even down with a 1-2% national sales tax to contribute something. but it's so sad, we can easily fix this, they just don't let us

Look at what Jeff Bezos did by moving from California to Florida? The average American worker absolutely cannot leverage saved assets like that?

I have no idea why people are so quick to defend billionaires and act like any progressive tax reform on billionaires would affect them in a negative way.
