I think you can have a cash bar at a wedding but you need to let people know. I feel like people don’t automatically assume they should bring money to a wedding

Uk can drink a lot. I didn’t have that kind of money. I just spent thousands on the wedding I couldn’t even afford my own drink at my wedding

An open bar is VERY rare for weddings in the UK. You’ll generally get an after ceremony drink and wedding toast drink included but that’s all.

Guys, having an open bar at a wedding costs THOUSANDS of dollars!!! I had a cash bar at my wedding and everybody had a blast regardless. Only alcoholic drinks cost money, soda, coffee, water, lemonade, and tea were all free

personally see no issue with it. whether it's open bar, cash bar or even a dry wedding, you should be there to celebrate the couple! the drinks shouldn't matter!

Cash bar is normal for the UK. one free drink for everyone at my wedding (which we're doing) is over £1000 in my venue so I'm very glad we're not footing the entire bill

Culturally it depends. Where I live people generally don’t have open bar because we have a heavy drinking culture and you will owe so much money. Some just give out a couple drink tickets. I haven’t been to many open bar weddings

An open bar at a wedding costs the client thousands. Sometimes a cash bar is the compromise the client has to make to have the wedding, period.

I went to a outdoor summer wedding (90 degrees out, no breeze) and they didn’t even have water. Had to pay $5 a bottle. Everyone left early.
