Okay, hear me out. Anytime it says, Cool-Whip, use actual whipped cream. Prevents the artificial taste.

I feel like calling a dessert from the 80’s “vintage” is a personal attack on me

I'd be willing to bet those cookies weren't individually wrapped when that recipe was originally printed. 😆

I used to make this every summer but with generic shortbread cookies (or homemade) & lemon curd instead of the blueberry pie filling (I’m not a huge blueberry person.) . It’s so good!

I like these kind because you can make them how like, don't like blueberries? use strawberry. want it a bit more summery? add pineapple.

when I was 16 I worked at a retirement home and we had unlimited access to snacks, including Lorna Doone cookies, and I ate so many my coworker asked if I was pregnant

I've not seen anyone mention it yet, but Lorna Doone is a book by R. D. Blackmore (1868 i think) and she's the main character.

Lorna Doone is a novel by RD Blackmore, written in 1869. Set in Exmoor in England. A brilliant story - think along the lines of Wuthering Heights.

about the blueberries, when you make pie filling you add butter at the end for the glossy shine. I'm gonna assume that with canned pie filling they do the same or with some other kind of fat, vegetable shortening, emuslified shortening, or margarine.

And best part? You can use any fruit besides blueberries! Pineapple yum yums, apple yum yums— it’s genuinely so good

Change the blueberries to cherries and you have what my family called Cherry Delight. It is, indeed, a delight to eat!
