Those look like those could be drop ceilings on your main level! I would take down a tile and check, you could get a much brighter main floor immediately with more head clearance!

I love how realistic this is for a first home. It’s blessing to even own a home at your age. Social media has tainted what is acceptable, just know be proud of that house, it’s amazing and will make a lovely home 🥰

We painted the wood paneling in our little first home white and it really brightened it up! If you can, don’t be afraid to literally just paint. It’s your place- make it yours! This house is so sweet Lizzy and you have so much time to make it a home!! Having a house is a big deal!! Congratulations!
