my sibling was an important factor in me getting into guitar/ music and when I expressed later on that I could see myself pursuing it they told me that if I got a “good” job I could just buy all the expensive guitars I wanted… that was never the point

i would say they’re projecting. they don’t see the goal/dream as possible so they try to put those beliefs on you too. That’s why it’s important to believe in your self and take others advice with a grain of salt.

my dad would do this over things that weren't even huge goals. i'd say i want to get a job at wendys so i can have my own spending money and he'd be like "be realistic". so you have so little faith in me that you think WENDYS is too good for me?????? no contact for 4 years btw
