@peters.sebi7: Romance scams are becoming increasingly common, and scammers are getting more sophisticated every day. These fraudsters prey on emotions, using fake profiles and heart-wrenching stories to manipulate innocent people into sending money or sensitive information. The worst part? It's not always easy to spot them right away. But don't worry-by recognizing key red flags, you can protect yourself and others from falling victim to these scams. Here's how to spot a romance scam from a mile away: Too Perfect to Be True If someone's profile looks too polished or their story seems too good to be true, it probably is. Scammers often use stock photos or edited images to create a perfect facade. Real people have flaws, and their profiles often reflect authentic experiences and personality. They Move the Conversation Off the Platform Quickly If they're eager to take the conversation off the dating app or social media platform right away, be cautious. Scammers want to move to more private channels where they can manipulate you without being flagged. They're Overly Flattering or Love-Bombing You Scammers often use exaggerated compliments to gain your trust quickly. If someone is telling you they're "madly in love" after just a few conversations, it's a classic love-bombing tactic to lower your defenses. They Ask for Money or Gifts This is one of the biggest red flags! Scammers often invent emergencies, like needing surgery or a flight ticket, and ask for money. A real person wouldn't ask for financial help early in a relationship especially when you've never met in person. This is one of the biggest red flags! Scammers often invent emergencies, like needing surgery or a flight ticket, and ask for money. A real person wouldn't ask for financial help early in a relationship especially when you've never met in person. Vague or Evasive About Their Life If they can't answer simple questions about themselves or their life seems too secretive, it's a red flag. Scammers will often refuse to video chat, or make excuses for why they can't meet in person, like being "too busy" or "traveling for work." Suspicious Behavior or Stories If their stories seem inconsistent, overly dramatic, or filled with contradictions, they're likely trying to play on your emotions. Listen carefully and trust your instincts if something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. They Try to Isolate You Scammers often try to isolate their targets from family and friends, manipulating you into believing they are the only one who truly understands you. They may pressure you to keep the relationship a secret or discourage you from talking to loved ones about it. It's important to trust your instincts and never let anyone rush you into making decisions, especially when it comes to money. If something feels off, take a step back and assess the situation. Don't be afraid to report suspicious profiles to the platform or seek help if needed. Protect yourself, and let's work together to stop these fraudsters from preying on others . Jay :
I have rules before I go onto any other site with anybody 1,No one asks for money not you or I and we do not discuss it in any way , 2,We never ask each other for any type of cards I.e. Apple, steam or any card related to money, 3,if you agree to meet each other you DO NOT ask the other person to pay for your fuel, so far I've been told I'm an idiot because they do not like/accept the rules as soon as they say things like that leave them alone.

Always ask for gift cards so they can charge it for money to come and meet you when you can’t use Apple gift cards or stream gift cards to get money

True but the most dangerous one are those who doesn't hide their identity. They show who they are in the beginning and before you know it they have manipulated you and you didn't even see the red flags until it's too late
