You gave any information on the refractometer, how to use it what it does, why we need one, etc.

never seen a person say so many words and not finish a thought. Not once did I hear him say NSC Non Structured Carbohydrate which is the amount if sugar and dietary starch in a feed or forage product. the refractometer is used to show the amount of sugar in a product like maple tree sap,Burch sap, molasses, but you can't lay a piece of hay across the surface and see how much sugar is present. This takes solvents and other equipment.

Molasses is fine but regular table sugar is so much cheaper but do not forget to add just a pinch of phos otherwise the plant does not absorb the carbon (ie. sugar) We shoot for 15 brix in our alfalfa love to see more but we struggle with raising our conductivity and calcium level to break over 15 and push it to 20. Would enjoy a real conversation, not a post

So I had a little more truth here, if you bring the brix up in your plants an insect digestive system cannot handle a brick over 10 so in other words, they can’t eat your crop. You were spot on very few producers know this or where to go.

For all those wondering: a refractometer is a laboratory or field instrument used to measure the concentration or purity of a substance in a liquid by analyzing how light bends (refracts) as it passes through the sample.

That is the best tool ever, I have used is for more the 10 years. What you said is 100% correct and you used it perfectly We are using it also in the wine or mampoer (moonshine) industry to measure the sugar content to determine the alcohol % in the final product. We use it also to measure your coolant mixture of anny engine to determine if you need replacement or if you have the correct mixture. In extremely hot condition you need more cooling and lubricant aditve and in extra cold conditions you need more antifreeze additives. This tool work great to determine if you need to replace your coolant.

Learn something new didn’t know you could use that device for sugar. I thought it was just for salt levels in aquariums.

Are you aware of certain cattle farmers using seaweed to keep the animals' mineral levels optimal? Apparently when you introduce seaweed to their ration, for a few weeks they'll eat quite a bit (and it will seem unsustainable) BUT after a few weeks they'll be eating much lesser amounts of that (so it is economically sustainable, and certainly more sustainable than doing it with synthetic mineral supplements (not talking about you necessarily), which aren't really absorbed in their gastrointestinal tract).
