I found out that some of my distant cousins have been doing this type of ground/grave cleanup yearly at my great great grands gravesites and it made it all come together as to why my ancestors were so strong. They’ve been honored and venerated for years.

One of my kid’s favorite things to do since they were children was to go to the cemetery and take care of the graves of the ancestors. They always said it was so peaceful. Their great grandmother taught the them at a very early age. Here is my son who is now an ancestor, tending to her grave after she transitioned. #NewOrleansCulture
