After 30 years, I quit my job last year to become a full-time caregiver for my father, and oh boy, do I finally understand why people look forward to retirement. No more toxic office politics. No more endless meetings, projects, UATs, deadlines, or corporate drama. For the first time in years, I can wake up without dreading the workday ahead. Being a caregiver comes with its own challenges, and it’s far from easy, but the freedom from the daily grind has been incredibly refreshing. Sometimes, stepping away from the rat race makes you realize how much of your energy was being spent simply surviving it.

Doing my job for nearly 8 years, only stayed so long because im a solo parent and it provides for my family while also being flexible to get my children from school etc. I hate it, it drains me every day. I cant remember the last time I felt truly at peace.

Thing is I don’t hate my job I’m just tired of the mundane day in day out drudgery of it all. Give me a chance to recharge my batteries for 3 months and I’m sure I would go back to work with a new energy. Working 5 days a wk ain’t for me anymore, but what choice do I have💁♂️
