@erimeme0: Segheneyti ( ሰገነይቲ) is a historic highland town located in the Southern Region (Debub) of Eritrea. Historically, it was the third-largest settlement in the ancient province of Akele Guzai, following Mendefera and Senafe. The history of the town is a fascinating mix of anti-colonial resistance, Catholic missionary influence, and unique agricultural development. The 1888 Battle of Segheneyti The town holds a major place in the history of East African resistance against European colonialism. Toward the end of the Italo-Ethiopian War of 1887–1889, Italian forces were trying to expand their footprint from the coastal port of Massawa up into the highlands (targeting Keren and Asmara). A local warlord named Dejazmatch Debeb, who had briefly worked with the Italians, turned against them.@marsawi Blue 💙
