@stardust_eu: Every summer we travel above the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden searching for Muonionalusta meteorites. Days of walking, digging and following signals through the forests and glacial terrain. Sometimes we find nothing. Sometimes we uncover a piece of a meteorite that has been waiting underground for over a million years. This is the same meteorite we use to craft the jewelry available on our website.

I'm curious about the legal side of meteorite hunting. When you search on private land, whose permission do you need to obtain before using a metal detector and digging? How does it work on government-owned or public land? Do you need permits from any authorities, and if so, which ones? Also, if you find a meteorite, how is that usually handled with the landowner or the authorities? Do you pay a fee for access, share the value of the find, or is there some other arrangement?
