By convention, 0.5 is rounded to 1, and 0.499... = 0.5

We only round .5 to 1 because th first digit is 5. It’s equally close to 0 as 1. Even tho 0.4999 = 0.5, the first digit is 4 which is the determining factor not the closeness.

Im in rounding im round once not twice would you round 450 to 1000 because 450 rounds to 500 then 1000 so follow math to how it should be x more than or equal to 5 round up and x<5 round down

well infinite 0.4999 is basically 0.5 which is rounded to 1, but some other ways one can view that it is technically under 0.5 which would be 0, but ALSO you can look at is that if you have seomthing its always more yhen nothing (0) so its rounded to 1 i say overall after all its 1

The only answer is to round up to 1. You should treat it exactly the same as 0.5 or 1/2 because it’s the same number. TBH it’s better / less confusing to people if you just write it as 0.5 in the first place.
