Let’s be really honest here. The trucking industry is what it is because of lobbying. Rail is far more safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly for long haul freight. trucks are needed for “last mile” getting from the rail yard to the destination. Long haul trucking made more jobs so looks better politically plus generates a ton of money in licensing and fines.
