Most people think complying with an attacker keeps them safe and that instinct makes complete sense because we are conditioned to de-escalate and cooperate to avoid conflict. But when it comes to kidnapping, abduction, and being forcibly transported to a secondary crime location that instinct can get you killed. The survivability rate of a secondary crime location is only around three percent and cooperating does not change that number. What that three percent breaks down into is even more important to understand. Some of those people were found by law enforcement before anything happened. Some found their own way out. And some survived because the predator died before he could finish. That means your odds of fighting somebody off are exactly the same as your odds of just getting lucky and having your attacker die on you. That is what three percent looks like. The reason that number is so low comes down to one thing. Control. A predator is not taking you somewhere random. They are taking you somewhere they planned, somewhere they have total control, somewhere nobody is going to interrupt what they came to do. Understanding the difference between being threatened and actively being harmed is one of the most critical self defence and personal safety concepts most people have never been taught. If you are not being hurt and you are not being transported use that time to read the situation and get ready. But the second somebody tries to move you that is your moment. A stab wound is survivable. A gunshot is survivable.
