I had a one similar. Did a UCI on terrain. Then had RR impact sensor code after it went to body shop. I know this system well 🤣 they threw a used door on it different year different harness. Spent a crazy amount of time load testing circuits and unapproved shorting of wires 🤣

As an equinox owner, I can’t believe someone even spent money fixing one of these things lmao

If they over tightened it enough to snap the e torx off the bolt it's possible they over torqued it and damaged the impact sensor.

I can think of a way to test the sensor but it's definitely not going to work when I'm done 😂

don't some of those sensors ground through the mounting bolt?

The head isn’t missing from that bolt. The bolt in in backwards and you use an e-torx on the stud

good one, glad you read GSI. No need to test the sensor, they are far more complicated inside than GSI shows.

Dead short the circuit with a corner pin, then key on top verify circuit integrity. Will come up with short to power codes every time

I had the exact same thing and those impact sensors change part #s with different years. They still plug into the same connectors though

I need to see it fixed with a new sensor. I had this same scenario . the original code was circuit shorted. Disconnected the sensor, it then changed to open circuit. New sensor. original code came back. load tested the circuit. test perfect. no shorts to ground. Or together. got another sensor. no change. new SDM. Still no change. I never did fix it. the body shop didn't want to put anymore money into it. Never did find out if it got fixed. 😔

hey side note, any good references or know where to go to learn how to use a lab scope/setup it up/basics for it.

some of those side impact sensors measure the difference in air pressure when a collision occurs

We had the exact same codes on a terrain or equinox that ended up being the incorrect component was installed after body work I think you are definitely on the right track!
