As someone who has distanced myself from friendships where I no longer feel aligned, if they had just asked in that way I would’ve felt they were open to hear why I pulled away. If they skirt past issues and changes in our connection with no acknowledgement, that tells me they’re not interested in a real conversation and therefore we’ve probably just come to the end of our journey in this friendship. No ill will, just parting ways. That’s been my experience in why I’ve pulled away. Being disrespected but no acknowledgement from their end. I don’t feel it’s my job to explain their behavior.

That’s a good advice. I have friends that don’t even reach out and take it personal. Not knowing I’m going thru a lot and didn’t even want to tell anyone.
