@bridge82.k7: Is this an immediate issue or just something to watch over time. This is a new pour. #creatorsearchinsights #concretepour #concretework #concrete #concretefinisher
In my opinion the new concrete is awful the top dries out before the bottom and causes cracks. As long as the slab has rebar in it then it should be fine. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t open up any more.

3 guarantees in the concrete world, 1, it’s go to get hard 2, it’s going to crack 3, nobody is going to steal it!!! No matter if everything is perfect with pour it’s going to crack eventually

can we see the whole slab? did they put cuts? only guarantee is it is going to crack. that why it's cut a certain way to tell it where to crack. build your house.

I would like to see more to make my opinion than what you showed me, but if it’s got saw cuts in it like it should’ve had, and it should not have cracked like that with that being said a better video of both sides of the crack would help a professional no more I do concrete every day. What I would do is call the concrete company and have their engineers come out and they will tell you what you need to know.

That's more than a surface crack.

Mayor of Concrete :
By the looks of the finish, could’ve been a cold joint there or shrinkage crack. If you passed inspection then you should be fine unless it starts opening wider.

Use & Them :
Was it a monolithic slab? Meaning footing a slab poured at the same time or was there a footing poured and then the slab. Just trying to find out how big the footing is and if it was dug down to solid bedrock? If it has a good footing there should be no problem just a surface crack. If it doesn’t have a good footing then it’s probably settling or sinking.

typically standard is 1/4" in width or height difference is considered a moving crack ( not good) less than 1/4" can be considered a "hairline".... should be stated in the contract

All concrete cracks. What matters is your renforcements . Do you have rebar or wire mesh that will answer your question. But I promise you coming from a finisher of 10 years ALL concrete cracks

first of all it's a shrinkage Crack. concrete shrinks about a 1/4 " every 100' it's not caused from compaction . does it have rebar ? how old when was it poured are there relief cuts in it?

it also would help if I knew what state you were in temp and humidity and wind on the day it was poured. also what concrete was poured 3000, 3500, 5sack 6 sack it matters.

Boochet_77 :
I wouldn't worry concrete cracks every piece! you cut it or give it "expansion joints" for movement! if it has rebar it's good! as far as could you put weight on it... if the slab is that big oh christ could be grain bins or something! that slab looks like it 32 in deep? I dont believe it's a house!
