someone didn't really live through this era.. The cartridge-blow was a "solution" to the NES boot issue, due to the strange lever style connector which corroded easily and dust got trapped in easily. In fact, the issue wasn't the cartridge at all, but everyone collectively thought it would help - what actually helped was inserting and removing the cartridge repeatedly because it wore down the corrosion and removed dust and debris. the issue was resolved with the SNES, with better connectors and no moving parts.

I did it WITH SNES cartridges! I don't know why people are tryna correct you that this only happened with NES cartridges. Maybe they didn't play SNES as much.

There’s a misconception about this and you can tell who was actually there and who wasn’t. SNES and N64 cartridges did not need this, it was NES.
