I’m a long singer that is known as one of “The Singers TM” at my local community theater with a sister that’s a classically trained vocal music teacher. People really underestimate how much you have to know your body and change how you make sounds come out of your mouth in order to sing any style well. Those “pretty sounds” rely on a weird combination of mind-body connection and going against your body’s natural rhythms and motions for producing speech (especially if you’re trying to make it sound good AND not wreck your voice).

Started taking voice lessons a year ago (at 43). It’s so weird and so vulnerable, but I love it!

yep. I was so nervous at first but now that I know my vocal coach well enough its fine. however, at solo & ensemble I had to do some nasty sounds with this lady I've never met, in front of my choir teacher, my vocal coach's teacher, my mom, and my dad. they're all musicians tho but I was so terrified. I hated that experience

Me over here trying to sing like I just ate a hot pocket fresh from the microwave cause apparently it helps with classical vowel shapes- I’m trusting the process 😅
