Citizenship rules are different from PR residency rules. For citizenship, you cannot count time outside Canada if you were working for a Canadian company abroad or if you were accompanying your Canadian spouse outside Canada. The good news? 👇 If you lived in Canada before becoming a PR as a worker, student, or visitor, some of that time may count. Each day during your eligibility period counts as 0.5 days of physical presence in Canada, up to 365 full days. This is equal to 730 calendar days (730 days x 0.5 = 365 days of physical presence).
