As we head into the Thain Family Forest, we cannot help but admire its lush beauty: thick, rich, and green. Seasonal river floods, soak the ground, depositing rich silt and seeds along its banks. Today, the forest is also supported through active human management. Forest staff, interns, and volunteers, remove invasive plants, and replant thousands of native trees, shrubs, and herbs. And after a short walk, we reach the Bronx River waterfall. It is not a towering waterfall, rather a peaceful cascade of about 7 feet.
