The "unhygienic" argument is so mute. Like you said. It's there for a reason and actually shaving and potentially damaging the skin especially in that area is a decision that everyone has to make for themselves. Trimming is better than shaving, but ultimately, hygiene is about knowing your body and minimizing risks of infection.
