Hot take, if you need to grind for hundreds of hours to max out your character to get to "the good part", it's a bad game. That said, PoE isn't quite like that, I played about 50 hours and quite enjoyed it.

PoE has lots of complicated (face value) mechanics that are easy to mess up. In PoE1 I’ve done maps several times in my hundreds of hours (mostly in hardcore) but I never ever EVER understood Elder/Shaper, the atlas, lots of the end game content just didn’t make sense to me, coming from someone who had 2000 or more hours in D3. In Poe 2 I’ve not been to the endgame yet but they added 5 whole endgame systems this update that i have anxiety trying to figure out (and their atlas is different than 1’s and I never even solved THAT). Also in poe1 it’s way easier to fuck up your character build compared to 2 at current imo. Bad character in the endgame basically calls for a restart if you have no currency to rebuild

I feel so limited and restricted in PoE2 and so many systems seem half baked and boring, COMPARING to PoE1. I definitely dont see myselg playing PoE2 again if they dont redo a lot od theyr systems/mechanics. Just my opinion ofc

POE 2 when compared to Diablo is pretty complicated, but only because of the volume of systems. Once you learn the systems, it’s pretty straightforward. I took a break from POE 2 for two updates, came back to the newest one. It’s way more accessible now, and it feels like a much better experience overall. D4 was cool with the new expansion, but after about a week, it becomes super stale and boring imo.

poe2 definetly more accessible. thought finishing the campaign without external tools/helps i don't think it is easy at all for a new player

I feel like on your first play through, you get the satisfaction throughout the game rather than just from the endgame. My first playthrough I actually didn’t know it was an grind type game and thoroughly enjoyed playing it like a normal rpg
