Shakira is from Barranquilla. Barranquilla is in Colombia’s largest Caribbean coast. Barranquilla is also heavily rooted with African culture. Barranquilla also created music called “pico” which has primary mixes of Caribbean and African sounds. Fun fact Barranquilla does a yearly carnaval to celebrate their diversity from Colombia as Barranquilla is has some of the largest Afro Latino population so a lot of Caribbean and African dance brought over! So in short is she African? No but was she raised in the culture because of where she was born? Yes so naturally a lot of her music and dances have a little bit of an Afro beat.

What have you done for Africa? Because She partnered with UNICEF during the tournament to sell "Waka Waka" t-shirts. The proceeds helped fund the South African East Observatory School and provided educational opportunities for children orphaned or displaced by war and HIV/AIDS. So why are you complaining?
