Haha it sure ain’t easy as a young man starting out farming trying to avoid the weekend peer pressure and saying no to drinking, camping, boating, riding, etc to stay home and do the farming.

Great explanation of possibilities. I grew up in town. Used to weld for an old boy had 3000acres told me he worked years in logging camps before he got to be full time farming. Changed my perspective on how to get started. Now I’m 10 years into my journey and I’m raising cattle on 500 acres. Starting with pigs,square bales and a market garden. Now it’s nearly a full time venture. It’s possible just not easy or fast.

Yeah it’s a lot of work but it could be done. I’ve been told many times over by older farmers “don’t quit your town job and you’ll be ok”

I see farmstead houses and sheds for sale but not the 40 acres. I wished I did, but around here it's definitely not the case.

people, can't think outside, the box, farming, is great, until lenders tighten up,lending $,there's, no end, I might, raise, cash rent, in my area, to 500 per acre, just, 2 see,what happens 😊

Option A: build 500,000 dollar house. Work to pay for it. Option B: buy a 500,000 dollar farmstead, Farm pays for itself. Work to pay for expansion.... Most people dont want it bad enough...

so many variables. different types of farms, locations, economies, environments, etc. no one i know is building a new house. i dont see any new ones being built either. just large apartment complexes

It’s all about connections getting into farming been getting into pigs the last couple years had 10 of my own pigs last year 205 pigs this year raising them for a guy at 5 dollars a pig per month and get 10 to sell for myself

It sure isn’t. I shear sheep for my cash flow. Growing our produce farm from nothing. I look at my green bean planting and my back hurts, about 30,000 seeds in so far.

Young people are not willing to work they want everything handed to them. They're not willing to put in the effort to build the business. They just want to sit back and complain and say how they deserve more but they're not willing to work for it.
