@wititan2: if you can afford all the other stuff, you can afford to buy a farm. If you don't want to give up the other stuff it's ok. #farmtok #grainfarmer #farmlife #dairyfarm
Haha it sure ain’t easy as a young man starting out farming trying to avoid the weekend peer pressure and saying no to drinking, camping, boating, riding, etc to stay home and do the farming.

I work at a lumber yard and I probably touch 5 million in 3 days so yeah budget wisely and 40 acres is a start

Great explanation of possibilities. I grew up in town. Used to weld for an old boy had 3000acres told me he worked years in logging camps before he got to be full time farming. Changed my perspective on how to get started. Now I’m 10 years into my journey and I’m raising cattle on 500 acres. Starting with pigs, square bales and a market garden. Now it’s nearly a full time venture. It’s possible just not easy or fast.

your not wrong. there is opportunity, but you have to choose the lifestyle. farming aint for anybody. you have to want it bad.

Yeah it’s a lot of work but it could be done. I’ve been told many times over by older farmers “don’t quit your town job and you’ll be ok”

You could make a living on 40 acres a Homestead like you said a farmstead just gotta put the work in and it’s gotta be family involved all hands on deck

I see farmstead houses and sheds for sale but not the 40 acres. I wished I did, but around here it's definitely not the case.

What are you going to do with a farmstead? It’s just buildings to take care of. You need land

I really like what you have said here. You never start at the top, you have to start somewhere. Nobody gets the same start, some have it better than others but that’s no excuse to not start.

maybe have one failed crop and then the bank will get it back it's not going to happen when you buy a half million dollar home that will increase in value

Option A: build 500,000 dollar house. Work to pay for it.
Option B: buy a 500,000 dollar farmstead, Farm pays for itself. Work to pay for expansion....
Most people dont want it bad enough...

It sure isn’t. I shear sheep for my cash flow. Growing our produce farm from nothing. I look at my green bean planting and my back hurts, about 30,000 seeds in so far.

Young people are not willing to work they want everything handed to them. They're not willing to put in the effort to build the business. They just want to sit back and complain and say how they deserve more but they're not willing to work for it.
