For those who are confused : In the lore of Warhammer 40,000, the Emperor of Mankind isn’t just being kept alive on the Golden Throne. * The Throne helps seal a catastrophic Warp breach beneath Earth. * The Emperor powers the Astronomican, which allows humanity’s ships to navigate the galaxy. * If he leaves the Throne or it stops functioning, Terra could be flooded by daemons and the Imperium could begin to collapse. This is also where the Grey Knights come in. They are the Imperium’s most elite daemon hunters, created in secret to fight Chaos itself. Even the Grey Knights are essentially a defensive measure against the horrors the Emperor has been holding back for 10,000 years. So if the Throne were truly empty, it wouldn’t just mean “the Emperor stood up.” It could mean the barrier protecting humanity’s heart has failed, forcing organizations like the Grey Knights into a war they were never meant to win permanently. an empty Throne is basically the equivalent of seeing a nuclear reactor with nobody in the control room….Hope it helps!😁

All I'm gonna say: the Emperor is sustained by the souls of 1000 psychers each day. The Grey Knights are a Chapter of Astartes. Chapters are (usually) 1000 men.
