I do inspections, if it's built after 2010 be cautious, if it's a mass subdivision build your taking a risk

No, I would prefer an older home ( anything built before 1970’s 😂) and simply renovate it as I see fit.

@Caribbeanne: When we renovated our bathroom, they found mushrooms growing between the ceiling in the first floor kitchen and the floor of the second floor bathroom. Crown built in 2013.

I’m a floor layer who currently is working at a new BJC renovation it was the old Panera headquarters in Kirkwood, Missouri they had the ceiling leaking into the fourth floor the top floor for weeks and weeks and weeks and all they did to fix it was drill holes in the bottom of the drywall above our finished flooring and put fans on it didn’t demo the walls. Didn’t tear out anything left the insulation in there all of that is going to mold and be disgusting in a hospital and this is all union work sad so non-union is going to be way worse quality way less give a fuck because they’re not getting paid nearly as much as union. They don’t have any benefits and they get paid by the job. Not hour

My house was built in 2022-2023, unfortunately, we already had to replace our master shower and closet drywall because of mold… builders have ZERO quality anymore

As a realtor and construction draw inspector it depends. If it's new construction already completed - no. If it's infill/land, I would have it privately/third party inspected at each phase (ie foundation, framing, rough-ins, etc). This is in addition to county inspections and that would be written into the contract too. I've seen things...

Yes. I know 2 people who bought Lennar homes 2 years ago. They both have mold, hvac issues, and plumbing issues. I bought a house built in 1987 and so far I’ve only had to buy a new electric panel and pool heater (which were original to the house!
