Omg yes! I was living on scraps barely getting by only to find out he was banking it in his savings. Found out he had over 20,000 saved while I have -76 dollars after bills. Refused to let me know about his finances:(

100%. When we were together I got a new job that required 6 weeks of training out of state. I actually made friends for the first time in years. Someone tagged me in a photo having fun so he spent my entire paycheck so I wouldn't have any money to go anywhere.

I’m on the opposite side. He tells me he’s stressed having to take care of all the financial burdens (rent, utilities, and groceries). I couldn’t find a job for several years and he had moved us to an expensive city. He makes almost 10k a month and wants me to go 50/50. He always says he can’t save because of my boys and I and has held money/paying rent over my head the entire relationship.

Living under financial control for so long was incredibly difficult. Then the betrayal on top of it made me question everything about the marriage. It really shakes your confidence when someone controls the money that way. It was so hard mentally, but I'm still here. 🤍
