Free Pick Durians Hotspots at Pulau Ubin During my visit to Pulau Ubin, I eagerly searched for spots to pick free durians. Unfortunately, it seemed I was a bit late, as I watched others gather an abundance of these delicious fruits. Despite my efforts, I wasn't able to find any. I then decided to visit the Former Headman’s House, where I enjoyed some tasty durians. To my delight, Ah Ma generously gave me all I wanted for free! You can find free, wild-foraged durians scattered across Pulau Ubin during the peak seasons (June to August and December to January). While trees grow across the island, they are heavily concentrated in specific spots and require some exploration. 📍 Best Wild Durian Hotspots * The Former Headman's House & Jalan Durian : The road between the Former Headman’s House and Jalan Durian is known to have mature trees. * Chinese Cemetery: There are notable clusters of wild trees on both sides of the road at the turn-off leading to the Chinese Cemetery, as well as on the hillside heading towards it. * Kampong Sungai Durian: The area named after the fruit still hosts numerous old durian trees. ⚠️ Essential Tips & Etiquette * Respect Private Property: Many of the trees are situated on private, kampong-owned land. Do not cross fences, and avoid harvesting from trees that are clearly enclosed or tended by locals. Stick to the un-fenced, wild-growing trees. * Safety First: The fruit falls naturally, especially overnight. Wear a hard hat (e.g., a reservist helmet) if you are foraging in the forests, as falling durians are dangerous. * Camping: To catch the early morning drops, campers often stay overnight at Jelutong Campsite (near Ubin Town) or Maman Campsite (about 3 km north). Registration is not required to camp, but you should log your stay at the small police station on the island. #pulauubinisland🏝 #pulauubindurian #kampongdurian #ubindurian #freepickdurian
