@ashleeinc: “My papaw grew up deep in the Appalachian mountains near Hazard, Kentucky, and this is the strangest story he ever told.” In the 1960s, he and his brothers followed a lantern into the woods and discovered a hidden town that seemed frozen in time. Minutes later, the entire town vanished. Then the old man carrying the lantern started appearing everywhere they went. Was it a ghost town, a time slip, Appalachian folklore, or something else hiding in the Kentucky woods? This is Samantha’s submission to Spooky Scary Storytime, the series of allegedly true listener experiences about the strangest or most unbelieverable things they’ve ever experienced. #Appalachia #ScaryStories #TrueScaryStories #Paranormal

Papaw should have apologized to the old man when he saw him again and told him he would respect the land.

I lived in the Appalachian mountains, more so the foothills really but there was an old timey town I drove through in the middle of the night, but it was busy and there were people and cars all over from maybe the early 1900s they all stopped and stared as I drove by. When I looked in my rear view there were no lights behind from the buildings. I drove through during the day time and all the buildings were broken down/falling in on themselves. Some were just foundations. I avoided going around there after that

I used to live Letcher county Kentucky when I was little but we moved away because my dad got a better job opportunity , my grandparents still live there and one night about two summers ago I was laying in the guest room of their house with the window open because it was hot outside, and I heard my grandma calling my name and asking me to come outside and help her, but I could hear my grandma snoring in the other room. I don’t know what that thing was, I didn’t answer it, I got up shut the window and hid under my blanket until sunrise

Being a Kentucky girl, I love the Appalachia stories... Growing up in and around the mountains, hills, and Hollers, you learn real quick to respect the land. Its not just old, its ancient.... Respect is required!
