it was overwhelming to look things up when I started in ltc. 35 patients all get about 20 pills each gotta give it from 6-9 or its late. I was a scared baby nurse

Grateful my job lists the indication for the medication! so if I'm not sure I can just check the Mar for the exact reason they're on it easily

There’s been a few times where a patient has asked what a drug was and I didn’t know. I was honest and said “I don’t know. Let’s look it up together!”. It’s okay not to know everything.

I saw an order for cardiac lidocaine on a kidney stone patient, in the ER. I was so confused, I asked the physician about the order. He must have sensed I was nervous about it and printed off a study on it for me. learn something new all the time, I tell yah lol

My problem is just how many off label use meds are being given. If I’m not told why they’re being given I’m spending like 10 mins going through the charts trying to figure out why they’re even being given it if there is even anything written

new grad here!! 3 of my clinicals made me use lexicomp and med sheets when i got pt assignment to make sure i knew the why and any interactions. taught me how to use lexicomp esp WITH epic so i knew if it interacted with any other meds. so useful and so helpful & im so grateful for it!

One time I got report that a patient hadn’t urinated all night and that he may need to be straight cathed. He had a foley that was tangled up 😅
