@supermoderno.com: "Getting Started with Arduino", together with 500,000 other works, was used to train Claude, without any consent. Anthropic settled for $1.5 billion. One "fortunate" case among many. Countless books, articles and creative works were and are constantly used to train commercial AI systems, sold at very high subscription prices, with nothing going back to the people whose work made them possible. AI is useful, for sure, but this is not how this system should work. #AI #AIEthics #ArtificialIntelligence #AuthorsRights #news #Copyright

A person reads a book. Gets trained by it. Sells himself as a service. That’s ok. But when it’s done by a computer it isn’t ?

Massive respect to you for having a nuanced opinion on something that most people just turn their brains off about and jump on the "AI BAD!!!" bandwagon.

Not sure. The question to me is: is the LLM used to reproduce the work or is the LLM just absorbing higher-level abstract knowledge. If LLM providers had to pay for each token in the training data, we would not have good LLMs.

What hurts me is that whenever governments give fines to companies nothing goes to the people or to the victims but we people just get more taxes...

In my opinion a new type of licensing must be established to allow people to distribute open software or sell books, so that a company willing to train its AI using that information must ask permission to do so

From my pov, if an ai quotes each time the source you will have the best ads service ever. Unfortunately it's not designed to do that by default.
