why not cover crops instead of plastic? you can do all the same things you're doing now and you might even save on water and fertilizer

That's wild! Corn has to be at a specific physical stage corresponding to time. As long as planted early you should be great with harvest.Don't need maximum productivity to make sweet corn lovers happy. Are you using one of the latest varieties (3)? Fertilization can give you 2 weeks of maturation. Keep us updated!

I do it in 606 deeps. If we have a late spring, they still have room to grow, more room for root growth also. Timing is everything in the North.
