@meetthechows: This have been on my mind for months and I want to share with you to see if you have any suggestions for me… what would be a good way for us to give back to our amazing dog loving community? #dogmom #dogparents #dogtok #giveback #community

Some vets (maybe your local vet) have “angel funds” that are used for pet parents that don’t have the finances for medical treatments.

I think all options listed so far are great. In terms of a regular pet parent, I feel like that may be a lot more work on your end, so you should factor in your time to do something like that as part of your giving back (since I saw a comment of you saying you obviously can't donate thousands to vet bills, so I would hate for you to feel like you're not giving enough). As a pet parent of an extremely senior dog with medical issues and an offer cat with medical issues, I do understand the relief a regular person could feel from the help, but I think the angel fund at the vet would be an easier way to do that since even a month of one med could be huge for someone, not necessarily massive vet bills. Also, though along the lines of more work for you, I'd honestly be pumped to yell you about my pets and if you had any enrichment/ ideas for certain care (not to replace any medical or professional advice, but sometimes an outside perspective can lead to new ideas or questions). Cause the love and care you give to Soup Baby is honestly so inspiring

Please save your money to buy your first house before thinking of donation as I just watched your other post saying that you want to buy a house for your family so that you don’t need to move to another rental house later when you have to! It’s too much to move around to another rental house especially with your old parents and your lovely senior dog! 👌🌸

two thoughts that come to mind are: 1. the work and expertise involved in reviewing and processing applications, determining the appropriate amount to give, ensuring you're not being scammed, etc. is a legitimate skill set that people are trained to do professionally. I completely understand the feeling that your money would have the largest impact going directly to pet owners, but I think it's also worth considering whether you have the time and qualifications to take that part of the process on. as many have said, donating local may be a great "middle ground" for putting your funds in trusted hands while keeping your impact direct and local. 2. regardless, don't let decision paralysis get in the way of you doing something good. there's never going to be a perfect option. go with what you feel most called to and what makes the most sense to you, and COMMIT!

I honestly think both options are amazing. But hear me out, I know a lot of pet parents that are struggling immensely. The cost of vet care has skyrocketed making people having to compromise on various treatments. Rescues also need help, but more often than not, they have a support system, fundraisers, vets donating their time, companies donating food, and more. My vote is for finding some incredible pet parents or idk if there’s any go-fund-me’s that you can find. Any organizations that help pet parents, Or even ask people to submit their stories. But honestly, no matter what you do, it’ll be impactful and so helpful to someone or another dog in need.

1. One intake form (Google Form/Typeform) linked in bio across TikTok, IG, and YouTube, so it’s one process instead of managing DMs on three platforms 2. Require proof, like a vet estimate/invoice or receipt, not just a story. This filters out most bad-faith requests automatically 3. Set a budget and cadence, e.g. “$X per month,” and review on a set schedule (monthly or a specific window) so it doesn’t become a nonstop flood 4. Pay vets/stores directly when possible instead of sending cash. It’s easier to verify, and protects you if anyone asks where the money went 5. If volume gets high (a few hundred applicants), recruit 1-2 trusted volunteers to do first-pass screening, checking that docs are complete, so you’re only reviewing the shortlist, not everything 6. If more people qualify than budget allows, do a random draw among verified applicants rather than trying to rank whose situation is worse Why this setup: It’s scalable (won’t burn you out even if it grows), verifiable (protects you from scams/misuse), and keeps the help going straight to your own community instead of an org.

I’ve also been looking into sponsoring a stab/bullet proof vest for K9 dogs in my local police. Most are German Shepherds and are so brave helping our community oftentimes with no protection. There’s a company that makes vests we can sponsor!

maybe donating to non-profit or lmutual aid organizations that provide this type of support to community members already; they are often positioned to reach the folks with the most need. in my community, project street vet provides vet support to animals whose owners are homeless. pasadena humane society operates a pet food pantry where community members can pick up food monthly (and other things like flea meds!) for their furry friends

Do it locally. I donate to my local shelter annually. Can’t save the world unfortunately. Also get a receipt for tax write offs :)

Someone told me a story that when they went to the vet, they heard someone who couldn’t afford care for their dog and she paid for their bill. I’ve always wanted to do this!!

Ask around in the community as well, build up your relationships in the community first, you may find along the way that you find someone who either works with smaller groups in the community, or knows who needs help.

Is there a pet pantry in your area? You can either donate to it or stock it up, this way you can help a number of people in your community.

Yes it wouldnt be possible without your following! But it doesnt always have to be one way or the highway right! make it personal like to the following that made this possible for you. Donating to a rescue would be great but they didnt get you the $$ you get to have. Do a giveaway to your following. u know how long theyve followed and then do a random picker that would select a few people. Give them a petco gift card or something like it. Anything will be great as long as its for the followers you have :)

I think that your considering this is beautiful! As a dog mom, my vet bills are huge! Our lab who was 11 passed away almost a year ago, between his vet bills and our rescue who is the same age.. yorkie Chihuahua mix.. I’m working on a huge care credit bill. It is what it is and our babies are everything to us. 🐶🐶 Love Rambo’s life and care!! ❤️
