With all due respect (not sure how they explain things to their kids exactly) however most of this feels like lack of trust ( that they can learn things themselves) than discipline. Not letting the kids expose to the real world is also dangerous for them. Let them see the world and then guide them. We cannot paint their world all rainbow then when they are adult they will face the reality how cruel the world is without the right weapon and mindset.
