False: the 1st ps3 was the 40GB which could only play ps3 games. It was the 60GB that followed that is backwards compatible with ps2 games. But very few now remain of the 60GB 👍

the og PS3 is also prone to failures like the 360, so your probably better off having a PS2 slim and a newer ps3

I have the backwards compatible 80GB one (E model) that can play ps2 games but it's emulation instead of hardware.
