@doc_ulloa: This school year began with only four fifth grade students in the green in Reading and two in Math. Green means performing at grade level. To be honest, I didn't even want to say how many students started the year two or more grade levels behind in the red. But growth happened. Through hard work, relentless effort, small victories, encouragement from families, and students who refused to give up on themselves, many moved from red to yellow and from yellow to green. Three students even moved from red to green. When the year began, that might have seemed impossible. Today, it is proof of what can happen when students believe in themselves, families cheer them on, and teachers help them build confidence one success at a time. Today, we wrapped up our final round of testing, and we now have eleven students in the green in Reading and twelve in Math. Eleven and twelve. 🥳❤️🥰 Numbers never tell the whole story, but these numbers matter. Behind every color change was a child who began believing they could do something that once felt impossible. Behind every score was a student who kept showing up, even when the work was hard. So yes... I went all in. I bought green checkered Vans, a bright green shirt, green pants, and a completely ridiculous green wig. I told the students who made it to green they could paint my nails green. My hands and toes. Well, eleven and twelve declined the toes. 😂 The students who moved up levels this year will also get to roll green glitter across my face. You've got to give them a little inspiration heading into next year. I am going to miss this group deeply. We spent nearly 1,000 hours together this year. We celebrated victories, worked through challenges, laughed every day, and kept believing that growth was possible.
