The NSDAP called itself the "National Socialist German Workers' Party", it was not a socialist party. Why not? It did not abolish private property or capitalism. Large corporations like Krupp and IG Farben remained in existence. The party opposed socialists and communists, especially the Communist Party of Germany and the Social Democratic Party of Germany. Trade unions were dismantled and replaced by state-controlled organizations. The focus was on nationalism, racism, and the Führer principle, not class struggle or economic equality.

This debate is old, i think we have all established the point that the nazis rejected both socialism and free market capitalism, it is known that they operated on a third position viewing the economy merely as an instrument for national and racial survival, mixing elements from both systems creating a unique economy that I don't think quite well fits the traditional political spectrum

Hitler despised communism/socialism, in 'My Struggle' he spends an absurd amount of time ranting about his hatred for it. Its not either state directed or private. the Nazis were corporatist, being private profits with heavy state direction, that is not collective ownership as in socialism. Racism is explicitly anti-marxist. If you want to say he was a socialist but not a marxist, then its irrelevant because no body uses a socialist definition other than the marxist one.
