I don't agree with his discipline tactics. I know he had a family to support and he believed his boys would be successful and he kept them off the streets but in today's society it would be viewed as child abuse. He accomplished his dream but at his children's expense. I think it affected Mike more than the others. He felt at ease on the stage and he got to be who he wanted to be. The rest of the family also had issues especially with their private lives. Joe trained them to keep going until they got it right and not give up, I was an abused child myself and I found myself trying to be accepted and loved. It took most of my life for me to come to terms with just being myself.
