do you want to know how to shade? then stop listening to people making these tutorials, these colors only apply to an outside sunset sky and lighting, black and white can be used if the lighting is room light white for example. I'd suggest learning color theory instead if you wanna know how to shade

Yes and no. Purple and orange ofc looks better then white and black but I would say that shadows and lights depends on background. In this art unicorn doesn’t have purple shadow but green because of grass which “shines” because of sunlight. And forest have multiple green colors. I really recommend to look for references when you’re drawing

Right, except you also have to consider other colors when it comes to lighting and shading. Although purple and orange is nice, it’s not really practical for everything you’re doing. Would you still be in pretty sunset colors if you stood in front of a giant blue screen? Just practice with other colors and anyone can figure out in no time👍👍
