It accompanies ceremonies, rituals, performing arts, community gatherings, and educational activities, serving as an important expression of cultural identity and social harmony. UNESCO acknowledged Gamelan not only for its artistic value, but also for the knowledge, craftsmanship, and cultural practices associated with its performance, instrument-making, and transmission to future generations. Today, Gamelan stands as a symbol of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and its contribution to the world’s intangible cultural traditions.
