@theoddityfactory: YOU HAVE TIME calendar I’ve had the idea of a burning calendar circling around my brain for a while and I’m so exited to finally see it come to fruition. Each page is made of handmade incense paper. At the end of each day, you tear it off, light it on fire, and sit with what the day was. Each square of incense paper burns for about 3-5 minutes and offers a brief practice in slowing down and reflection. The passing of time has always been a source of angst but when I have moments of clarity about the whole thing, I am usually reminded that I should maybe just let each day be what it may. Like an excited child ripping their way through a bag of candy, enjoying every bit and yet blissfully unaware that the bottom of the bag is always empty. Approaching time, not from a place of disregard, but rather a deliberate shift of focus away from the ending. Let the days burn, one by one, loosen your grip, imagine they are eternal even if they’re not, sit still. I am never not amazed by the fact that the world is unyielding. True change comes from within. It’s nothing that wasn’t already there. The world (and time) are not the kaleidoscopes, we are. I still need to work out some kinks and I wanted to make sure there was someone else out there who would be interested in a crazy piece like this before I embarked on making more. These are certainly a labor of love but I sure do love them. The paper featured here is scented with frankincense, palo santo, and hints of lavender.
