Former Army Instructor: That’s a downhill stride, you’re rotating out to slow your defend and conserve energy. I don’t suspect this is your running gait. You’re obviously letting the muscles out on the downstep. Look into something called Pose Running. Tighten on your alignment. Ideally your feet should track straight. Those rotational forces and impact aren’t great at those angles for your joints, so what ends up happening is early wear on the lower hardware causes changes to the upper hardware like you hips and spine. It’s all connected and when it starts losing the ability to compensate, it just compensates as best it can and that wears things out.

never been a runner, but am a high level dancer across multiple disciplines - but I’d bet my last dollar it’s weak dorsiflexion. There’s 3 main muscles in your leg that control ‘pulling your toes up’ (dorsiflexion) and dancers have to focus on this for toe extentions, jumps etc and i’ve always been complimented by runners that my ‘shins are extremely muscley’ - I coped this from google but it’s these muscles: “Extensor Hallucis Longus (EHL) Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) Extensor Digitorum Brevis (EDB)” strengthen them and keep your foot arches stretched and flexy and it’ll improve 🙂
