I think it’s very interesting that Tenzin likely can’t enter the spirit world in part due to how much weight he has taken on as one of the last airbenders. He has never truly been without the responsibility of carrying on an entire culture and never gained the true freedom so many other airbenders had. I think this inhibited his spiritual abilities

I watched the show years ago for the first time and many times since but only now I just realized that because of the fact that Korra is older than Tenzins kids, Aang must have passed away bevor Jinora was born, so for a couple of years Tenzin was also the last Airbender

Tenzin is the 2nd last airbender after anng died before jinora was born he was it and because korra is older then all 4 of Tenzing kids is 100% proof of this fact

Hi :
The Guide and A New Spiritual Age are my favorite episode combo of the series. I think what they decided to do with Jinora’s character is such an expert way to expand already established lore about a character into something new in TV since so many shows can often be season by season like Korra was. We already know Jinora is extremely well-read, extremely proud of her cultural heritage and I think it’s a great way to expand on her characters more soft/slow contemplative nature from book 1 into something that is just inherently connected to the spirits.

its easy to forget imo that aang died before tenzin had children. tenzin was for years the last airbender too and felt that pressure, not knowing if he would be able to continue the legacy (air bending children was not a guarantee) and the pressure he felt must have been huge.

I love Jinora! She’s so cool! I have long wished that she was just a little bit older to be part of the teenage main cast, so she could hang with Korra and the crew a bit more. But regardless, she’s so great. I feel like this episode is one of her first big moments.
