@nofret_egypt_: The Ptolemaic Hathor Temple at Deir el-Medina is a small but carefully built sanctuary dating mainly to the reign of Ptolemy IV Philopator, with later additions under subsequent rulers. It stands within the abandoned sacred landscape of the former workers’ village, where earlier New Kingdom cult buildings had already established a strong ritual tradition. The temple is primarily dedicated to Hathor, but its most distinctive internal feature is the division into three parallel chapels. These chapels are dedicated respectively to: • Amun-Re-Osiris • Hathor-Maat • Amun-Sokar-Osiris This unusual arrangement reflects late Egyptian religious thought, where major deities were combined into complex theological forms, especially in funerary and renewal contexts. The inclusion of Osirian and solar elements emphasizes rebirth, cosmic order, and regeneration—key concerns in the Theban necropolis tradition. Although the village itself was long abandoned by the Ptolemaic Period, the builders clearly still recognized the sacred significance of the site and its earlier cult landscape, maintaining continuity with centuries of ritual memory at Deir el-Medina. #History #mystery #egypt #luxor #travels
