@drjesstaylor: When you leave coercive control or domstic abuse - it rarely just ends: the obsession and fixation of the perpetrator does not disappear just because we have tried to leave them - often; it transforms into stalking and harassment for many victims. Whether it is ex-partners, or even members of our own families - stalking online is easy, convenient, anonymous, powerful, and terrifying for the victim - even when they have already done so much to try to leave and protect themselves.

As both a woman with lived experience and a therapist, I've pre-ordered this and am looking forward to reading it. I know many women, both personally and professionally, who stay because they understand the risks associated with leaving. For some, remaining is a risk minimisation strategy. They know the danger to themselves and their children can increase after separation. Many seek therapy for support. What I've observed is that some disengage from services when the focus becomes solely about leaving, rather than understanding the complexity of their circumstances. When discussions shift toward risk framing, mental health concerns, or child protection involvement, it can increase distress and inadvertently add to the burden these women are already carrying. This is an important conversation, Jess. Thank you for adding to the literature. If this is anything like your past published work & training Ive had the privledge to attend this will enhance my clinical practice framework as your other work has. All I have is gratitude Jess. Because your work has influenced my personal life as a survivor of IPV & importantly --- Shaped my professional life ☮️✌️

A necessary book Jessica! 🤩The “control” element rarely goes away so yes, a lot of people who have experienced coercive relationships will be stalked either physically or online. Thats why so important to shut down access online and report any physical. Also ask if reported for a crime reference or evidence from police ( as they are woeful in doing their job) X🧡

Yes after I left I almost thought it was less stressful if I stayed with the abuser.I at least knew where he was.

My stalker is STILL fixated on me and it's been almost 15 years 😫 Do you have any tips on removing my name from databases online so he can't find my address or phone number via Google?
