one eyed king solos your fav :
I'm sorry if I sound stupid or smth, I didn't read the spinoff manga or whtver nagi had, so I may be a bit idiotic but here's my take about Nagi. His lethargy was an existential anhedonia, especially before meeting Isagi & joining blue lock with Reo. Before Blue Lock, Nagi detached from the world around him, his parents raised him hands off and as far as I remember he properly didn't feed as well (his fridge had jelly drinks and he mainly ate baked goods, correct me if I'm wrong). He lacked a foundational sense of self. Meeting Reo and, subsequently, Isagi unearthed the volatility hidden beneath Nagi’s unbothered exterior. With his mind accustomed to emotional numbness, he got exposed to egoism. Nagi's psychological trajectory is fraught with codependency + search for meaning. His initial reliance on Reo to curate and navigate his reality shifted into fixation on Isagi (the one person capable of piercing his detachment). Kinning Nagi because of a shared aversion to effort ignores the undercurrent of psychological angst that poor Nagi has 🥀. Once the spark of ambition ignited within him, the subsequent loss of momentum made him devastated. The weight of failing to replicate his past success, compounded by the realization that his talent is no longer enough, gave him guilt. He is haunted by his squandered potential, prolly knows now that his passivity has cost him his tether to meaning. This saddened him so bad that he cried (At least that's what I believe why he cried when he cried). Poor Nagi even spent his birthday alone 😭. For someone who initially rejected human connection as a chore, this loneliness prolly hit him hard
