That's not primarily a Fulani culture; it's largely influenced by Islamic teachings. Islam encourages Muslims to live peacefully with local communities, interact with them, and marry among them. It also teaches that people should not be forced to accept Islam, except in situations where Muslims are prevented from practicing their religion.
Furthermore, Islam, when practiced properly, is beautiful because it emphasizes justice and the protection of minority groups regardless of their beliefs, as long as they are not harming others or forcing their views on people.
For example, in Northern Nigeria, the Fulani, Hausa, and many other ethnic groups had lived together for a long time. Muslims were present among them, but in some areas they faced persecution from certain rulers, alongside many poor locals. This is one reason why many ordinary people supported Usman dan Fodio. After several letters and attempts at reform, conflict eventually broke out and the existing rulers were defeated.
After victory, Dan Fodio did not simply destroy the kingdoms. Instead, he appointed leaders whom he considered more knowledgeable and just, with the aim of promoting education, justice, and equity. This is one reason why, even today, many minority groups in Northern Nigeria continue to practice their own beliefs.
