As Israel and Hezbollah continue their conflict despite a U.S.-brokered truce agreement, the U.S. and Iran exchanged clashes despite their own ceasefire, sending oil prices higher and dimming the prospects of a meaningful agreement between the countries. As long as oil prices continue to rise and prices at the pump here in the U.S. keep rising, the pressure on the Fed to raise rates to get a handle on inflation will remain a significant headwind for gold prices. Current price of gold The opening price of gold futures on Wednesday was flat compared to Tuesday’s closing price.
