If you hire a driver, offer to take them with you into sites and excursions. Buy them lunch and drinks and tip at the end. It’s maybe $25-30 of your money but it’ll mean so much to him

Get those Uniqlo moon bags in different colors!! So cheap in Thailand, water resistant and fits all of your essentials like fans, deodorant, sunscreen and wallet. I have like 7 in different colors and just wore a diff one to match my bikini everyday 😭

Carry the red plastic bag from A Market after you buy something. Vendors may assume you’re a savvy bargain shopper, so they’re less likely to hassle you or quote high tourist prices. It’s like an unspoken market code!

Take tissues with you for the toilets. Have your wits about you with food- if it looks like it has been sitting out a while, it probably has, so don’t eat it- this mainly applies to the meat & fish at markets. But if a place looks like you shouldn’t eat there (as in the restaurant), it probably has the best food. If you have a bad tummy, 711 sell charcoal tablets that are really effective. The best water is the crystal like bottle with a blue cap, or the aqua brand with a turquoise cap- they just taste the best. You’ll be fine with ice as long as it is the cylinders with holes in the middle because that shows it has been produced in a factory. Avoid crushed/shaved ice as a basic rule of thumb, although I wasn’t ill once while I was there. Learn basic Thai, such as hello, goodbye and thank you. It makes such a difference to the locals and shows respect. Make sure you have clothes to cover your shoulders and knees if you plan on visiting temples. Thailand is one of the most beautiful countries, and one I feel very lucky to say I spent a year in. You’ll have the best time!!
